Mass confirmation
Comparison of an observed molecular mass against the mass calculated from a compound's intended structure or sequence.
Strong evidence of identity, but not unique: different sequences composed of the same residues share a mass. Sequence-level confirmation requires tandem MS or amino acid analysis.
