An index for a sector that does not have one

The problem

Information about peptide research compounds is scattered across regulatory databases, chemical registries, laboratory service pages and vendor marketing — and the last of those is by far the loudest. The result is a sector where the most visible claims are the least checkable, and where finding out what a compound actually is, or what a testing report actually establishes, takes far more work than it should.

Meanwhile the genuinely authoritative material is public and free. PubChem holds structural data. Drugs@FDA records approvals. FDA publishes its compounding evaluations and its concerns in full. Accreditation bodies maintain searchable registers. None of it is hidden. It is just not assembled anywhere.

What Therapept does

It assembles that material into records that can be checked. There are currently 14 compounds in the library and 12 laboratories in the testing directory, each carrying the sources it rests on and the date it was last reviewed.

Alongside the reference data, Therapept publishes guides to reading the documentation this sector produces — what a certificate of analysis establishes, why chromatographic purity and net peptide content are different numbers, what accreditation actually covers — and analysis of the regulatory and payments environment operators work in.

What makes it different

• Unknown is a real answer. Fields nobody has published are marked unknown rather than inferred, and filters never treat silence as a yes. Some records look sparse as a result. That is the honest shape of the available information.
• No ratings. A composite score is an opinion wearing a number. The underlying fields are published so a reader can weight them.
• Disagreements are recorded, not resolved silently. Several compounds here have conflicting entries in authoritative databases, and at least one is routinely misidentified across the entire market. Those conflicts appear on the record.
• Commercial interest is disclosed at the link. Above it, not in a footnote, before you decide whether to click.

What Therapept is not

It does not sell peptides. It does not publish dosing, protocols, administration guidance or any description of what a compound does in a human being, and it will not add them. It does not provide medical, legal or financial advice.

It is also not independent of the sector it covers. Therapept’s owner has interests in other peptide businesses, and those businesses appear here labelled as affiliated properties with an explicit statement that they are not independent recommendations.
