How to Verify a Peptide Certificate of Analysis

Reading the fields is step one. Verification is whether the lot, the laboratory and the lookup still join. A truthful PDF can fail that join.

Verification is a different job from interpretation. Interpretation asks what a number means. Verification asks whether the document in hand is about the material in hand, issued by the laboratory it names.

The join

  • Lot on the container equals lot on the report.
  • The laboratory is named and reachable without the seller as a gate.
  • Any verification code resolves on the laboratory’s domain.
  • The method is stated, not only a percentage.

What a match does not prove

A matching lookup proves the laboratory will show you that file. It does not prove chain of custody, and it does not convert HPLC area percent into milligrams of peptide.
