Therapept

Glossary

Human-interventional study

A study in which investigators assign people to receive an intervention and measure prespecified outcomes. A randomised controlled trial is its most rigorous form.

In Therapept's evidence file this class covers small pharmacokinetic studies in volunteers as well as large registered Phase 3 trials, so the class alone says nothing about size or rigour. The design, population and limitations on each record carry that information.
