Clinical trial registry
A public database recording a study's design, interventions and outcomes, ideally before enrolment begins. ClinicalTrials.gov is the United States registry.
A registry identifier such as an NCT number ties a paper or a sponsor announcement to a prespecified design, which makes later changes to endpoints or populations visible. Therapept records the identifier where a study has one.
