Net peptide content

Net peptide content is a mass fraction: how much of the weighed sample is peptide, as opposed to counterion, water and residual salts. It is a different measurement from HPLC area percent.

What this tells you

  • When present and method-stated (typically amino-acid analysis), the peptide mass as a share of sample mass.
  • Why two lots with the same HPLC purity can contain different milligrams of peptide per milligram of powder.

What this does not tell you

  • Identity. Content without mass confirmation is still an unknown sequence.
  • Anything, if the field is simply missing — which is common.
