Batch traceability
A certificate is evidence about the sample tested. Traceability is the documented join between that sample, a production lot, and the container in hand.
What this tells you
- Whether lot on the vial, lot on the report, and laboratory sample ID can be connected without a story.
- Whether the laboratory’s own lookup, if any, returns the same document.
What this does not tell you
- Chain of custody you cannot see. A matching lot number is necessary, not sufficient, if the sample could have been substituted.
- Quality of later lots. A report does not travel forward in time.
